MYIE2 Online Help
How can I use 'default search'?

MYIE2 allows you to input keywords in the address bar to perform a search . If the default search engine is Google, MYIE2 's address bar will be equivalent to the search box of the GoogleBar in its use.

To make a quick search, you may add or modify the existing one as another 'default search'. Here are the steps to follow:

  • First, rename the old 'default search' so the *will no longer exist.
  • Then, define the new one as the 'default search' with a *

You may also use "default" button to add another default search engine though Google is supposed to be the 'default search' engine.

'Default search' is unique.Quick search only allows one searh engine name (Name) beginning with '*'. However, to avoid the conflict with other website abbreviation, MYIE2 allows a quick search item consistent with the one existing in the 'default search' list.

Default search and quick search

  • The input format of the quick search in the address bar is: Search engine name keywords
  • The input format of the default search in the address bar is: keywords

Note: Any combination of characters are allowed to be keywords in the search engine During a quick search, duplicate search items is not allowed.

Default search and URL alias

If you have initiated the URL alias, there will be a priority problem between the keywrods search and the website abbreviation.

When the search keyword remains the same in the search and the website abbreviation, MYIE2 will take priority on the URL alias. In other words, keywords are suggested to avoid the names already used in theURL alias. But you need not pay too much attention on this issue as URL alias is after all a limited subset, which will not meddles with normal searches.
